For years Blackman & White has been working closely with a broad spectrum of manufacturers relying on high precision composite cutting. These range from companies employing highly specialised production techniques in the automotive industry such as Formula 1 teams and major car manufacturers, through to multinational aerospace corporations companies developing and manufacturing aircraft. We have worked on wind turbine and yacht construction projects, air bag manufacture, as well as with major educational institutions developing the technology itself. Blackman & White offers a personalised approach to the very individual requirements of these companies. The machine specification is determined by the criteria central to production requirements. Static and conveyorized cutting table options remove any floor space constraints, with fabric handling equipment also available. The nature and spectrum of fabrics cut dictate the cutting head options, which include 45 degree cutting, driven wheel with blade sharpening, oscillating blade, standard drag knife and laser. We also offer the flexibility of multiple cutting head options on the same cutting gantry. Operator software experience is taken into consideration when selecting from software specially chosen for composite cutting, ensuring ease of use and leading edge nesting and machine control capability. Blackman & White can also revolutionise the template or part recognition process. Cut templates can either be created by standard digitising or by photographic digitising, which impressively eliminates the need for time consuming manual inputting. Many of our customers cutting a large number of complex parts opt for automated ink jet part labelling and marking. Ultimately, the machine has to optimise material efficiency with good cut complexity capability, whilst offering high accuracy and speed. Our customers achieve this, and in so doing have maintained their competitive edge at the forefront of this fast changing industry.
